Covid-19 — Working hard to keep our customers safe from coronavirus

This year has been absolutely dominated by the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has had more of a profound effect on our lives than anyone could have predicted when the crisis began back in Wuhan at the turn of the year.

For us here at Clear-flow, the health and safety of our employees, customers, the communities in which we operate have always been our utmost priority. During these unprecedented and difficult times, we’ve taken a huge number of steps to make sure that we are doing everything we can to prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible.

Here are just some of the steps we’ve taken since the start of lockdown to combat the virus:

A new office set-up

During lockdown, our office staff who could work from home were working remotely. Some office staff have now returned to the office for work, but we’ve created socially distanced office bubbles and Covid secure environments. Those different departments and depots are not working together in person, so for example, our Cornwall office could keep working if a member of our Devon team fell ill.

Substantial investment has been made in our Devon office, making it much larger and allowing staff to return safely at safe social distances. We’ve also added additional welfare facilities to our Cornwall office to allow the social distancing of our operative and office teams.

We’re also discouraging visitors and contractors from visiting our offices where possible. Those that must attend in person have to fill out a health questionnaire and have to follow new signage and one-way systems.

New practices for our operatives

Since the start of lockdown, we have been constantly and consistently reviewing our processes and how we work, based on Government advice and our own experience. Our employees have been fully equipped with suitable PPE and hygiene items. If a member of our team is working in the home of a customer, we ask them not to be in the same room and ensure all surfaces touched are wiped down before they leave.

We also have kept certain practices in place that play into social distance, such as keeping our operatives with specified vans as home based.

Changing with the ongoing situation

We’re aware that as case numbers currently continue to rise and as the days go by, the situation continues to change. Clear-flow has also devised a robust and detailed risk assessment that analyses every aspect of our work and will continue to be used to keep our staff and customers safe.

That’s a pledge we have made and will continue to make in the months ahead; as the situation and circumstances around Covid-19 continue to evolve and change, so shall we. We shall continue to look at our processes, our ways of working and if there is anything else, we can do to protect our customers and our staff, we will act.
